The Knowledge Managers’ Conference on Developmental and Intellectual Disability in Authorities and Organizations

Human capital and professional knowledge are key assets in organizations in general and third-sector organizations in particular. Knowledge is dynamic; it evolves and is constantly updated. Proper management of the processes of knowledge documentation and development is essential to the organization’s professional growth and the achievement of its goals. The forum of knowledge managers in authorities, organizations and government ministries that deal with people who have D.I.D. was established in order to train officials to facilitate intra-organizational, independent, and professional knowledge management processes while forming a community of professional knowledge development and sharing
The forum’s first meeting took place on January 7, 2016. In attendance were various officials entrusted with the management of all the organization’s information and knowledge, whether they are knowledge managers or are performing this task in addition to their role in the organization

:The forum’s goals are as follows

To foster proficiency in the terms and theoretical infrastructure of knowledge management

To carry out organizational knowledge-management tasks in accordance with the accepted procedure and professional principles of each stage of the work

To learn the tools of knowledge management and how to use them in the organization, and

To create a peer group that holds learning and knowledge development sessions during and after the forum’s meetings

The forum, a project of the Shalem Foundation, was founded in 2016 with the cooperation of the Division of Individuals with Developmental Intellectual Disabilities and directed by Ms. Ortal Schmaltz, who specializes in knowledge management processes in social, business and public organizations
At the closing session, the participants spoke about the importance and contribution of knowledge management and said they would like to continue the peer meetings

The Shalem Foundation, the Yad HaNadiv Foundation and the Trump Foundation are currently working on the establishment of a knowledge managers’ forum in philanthropic and public foundations
