In 2016, a home for eight residents with intellectual, sensory and physical disabilities was opened in Kibbutz Ketura in the Eilot Regional Authority. Approximately 300 kilometers from the center of Israel, the Eilot Regional Authority is home to 65,000 residents, among whom only a relatively small number have special needs. No programs for them were developed in the region’s communities due to a lack of critical mass of special needs demographics
Janet and Lisa, two devoted and determined mothers from Kibbutz Ketura, conceived the idea of the group home in 2005. They recruited people to help them promote their vision, which was to establish a home for their children near their families. Yesterday we were privileged to see their dream come true
The Social Welfare Ministry got on board and fulfilled the vision of the Disabilities Administration by building this special home
